The goal of this website is to give you a collection of information, gathered from several sources (see Bibliography), describing the trilobites of Valongo Formation and, when possible, illustrated with photos of specimens collected at that formation. Thus making specimen identification easier. At Glossary you can found a list of scientific terms used in the description of individual species. At The Species there's a list of species of trilobites found on Valongo Formation and individual pages for each specie. This pages are illustrated (when possible) with close-up photos of specimens of author's collection. The same list can be seen at Systematics where the species are arranged according to international systematics of the Class Trilobita. At Photo Album there's a collection of photos concerning several aspects of trilobite collecting, preparation, landscape of region, etc. We as group (Trilophiles Group), started collecting in 2004, but each of us started gathering fossils and minerals a long time ago. We had this passion since we were child and we think we have the responsibility to pass this interest and passion to the next generations. That's one of the reasons we are publishing this website. We’ve done it for education and scientific purposes only. We do not provide information’s about outcrop locations and do not organize paleontological excursions. Warning: We do not sell or trade fossils. All specimens belong to the private collections of the members of the group. Suggestions, specimen’s photos and papers describing that particular species (in PDF format, if possible) are welcome. You can contact us at fossilpt@clix.pt |
